Where Can I Serve?
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries.
Prayer Warriors
Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. The church comes together for a time of prayer and Bible study on Wednesday Evenings. Special prayer request are shared at this time and we pray for our church, its leaders and ministries, and the missionaries serving around the world. We also have a ladies group that meets on Friday mornings to pray for our families, communities and church as well as lifting up praises and praying for the lost.
Music
God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of our church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.
Mission Outreach
Faith Bible Church is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. The missionaries Faith Bible Church supports are located in Jamaica serving with Source of Light Ministries International, and the United States serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators, and Chosen People. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.
Media & Technology Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of this church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in audio format. We also maintain an active Facebook page for additional church communication.
The FBC Statement of Faith
GOD: We believe that God is the only One and True God who lives outside of time (eternally) and exists as wholly God and individually as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (The Trinity) We believe that God is sovereign over all of His creation and in His character, He is unchanging and everlasting.
JESUS: We believe that Jesus is wholly man and wholly God. We believe that Jesus was crucified, died and was buried, and on the third day He rose from the dead. By His death and resurrection, we have been given the promise of salvation by his substitutionary sacrifice for our sins.
MAN: We believe that mankind was created to glorify and to serve God. Men and women were created equally in separate roles to fulfill the will of God to that end. We believe that all mankind is fallen in their sins, broken and lost in the world. It was by man that sin came into the world and now he lives in a state separated from God, except that God would draw man to Himself and save them.
SIN: We believe that sin is the nature of mankind and cannot be removed by the will or works of man but can be forgiven by God’s grace. The sacrifice of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, paid the price for mankind’s sins but sin remains in man who lives in a promise of salvation. Sin is the disobedience of God’s commandments and laws; it is a sign of the absence of love for Him. We believe that God hates sin and has set death as the punishment for sin.
SALVATION/REDEMPTION; We believe that the only hope for mankind’s rescue from God’s wrath in judgment was the sacrifice of His one and only Son, Jesus Christ. We have been redeemed from the penalty of our sins to be carried out on judgment day and we live in obligation and gratitude because of God’s mercy and grace. There is no other way to salvation than by the works of God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. In our love for God, we now live sacrificial lives to Him through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
THE BIBLE: We believe that the Christian Bible is the very Word of God, without error in meaning and given to us through the work of the Holy Spirit. We are taught and counseled by the Holy Spirit through the Holy Scriptures. God’s word, the Bible, is complete in its present form and remains His voice in the world until He returns for His bride.
THE CHURCH: We believe that the church is the body of Christ and is made up of all those who have received salvation by faith in Christ. .
COMMUNION: We believe that communion was directed to us by our Lord to commemorate His sacrifice for our sins, the New Covenant, and to remind us of our oath to serve His covenant. The Elders direct the church in proper use of the elements for the communion service as well as the frequency and location of the service to fulfill our obligation to the covenant of Christ.
BAPTISIM: We believe that baptism is the public proclamation to the body of Christ of a believer’s acceptance of God’s covenant sacrifice for their salvation and it is their fulfillment of obedience to God’s word and love. We believe that baptism does not save the lost but is the first step after God has transformed the heart of the lost through the Holy Spirit. Baptism is the physical manifestation of God’s work in the believer’s life, and should be treated with reverence.
